A series of zinc complexes of dimethyl(phthalimidomethyl)phosphine oxi
de (DPPO, L) have been synthesized: ZnX(2)L(2), where X = Cl, Br, I or
NO3. The complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, infrared
and H-1 NMR spectra and X-ray powder analysis. Infrared spectral data
show that L is coordinated to zinc via the phosphoryl oxygen atom. The
zinc halide complexes are found to be isostructural, while the patter
n of Zn(NO3)(2)L(2) differs considerably from those of halide complexe
s.
