Zeolite beta was used for isopropylation of cumene to diisopropylbenze
nes. This zeolite deactivated with increase in time-on-stream period.
To overcome the catalyst deactivation during reaction, two different s
tabilization methods viz. steaming and treatment with (NH4)2SiF6 were
examined. A combination of these two methods resulted in obtaining a s
teady stable catalytic performance during alkylation. The effects of v
arious reaction conditions on the activity/selectivity behaviour of th
e stabilized zeolite have been studied.
