Precipitation of Cm(III) from HNO3 Solution by potassium ferricyanide
solution is investigated. A compound of formula Cm[Fe(CN)6] separates
as a dark red precipitate. The precipitation is accompanied by partial
peptization of the precipitate. Adding up to 40 vol.% C2H5OH to the m
other liquor ensures precipitation of 95-98% of the Cm. Aging of the p
recipitate probably radiolytically reduces Cm ferricyanide to form the
double salt KCm[Fe(CN)6].
