Abstract
The reaction 6NpO22+ + C2H7NH2OH+ + 3H2O = 6NpO2+ + C3H7OH + HNO3 + 7H + in HNO3 solution obeys the rate equation -d[Np(VI)]/dt = k[Np(VI)][C 3H7NH2OH+]/[H+]0.8, where k are 19.0 +/- 0.4, 41.8 +/- 1.0, and 76.5 /- 4.7 liter0.2/mole0.2-min at ionic strength mu = 2 and 16.2, 25.8, a nd 33.8-degrees-C, respectively. The activation energy E = 58.20 +/- 0 .03 kJ/mole; the entropy DELTAS = -(64 +/- 1) J/mole.K. The reaction mechanism is discussed.
