The reaction between Np(VI) and N,N-dimethylhydroxylamine in HNO3 solu
tion obeys the rate expression -d[NP(VI)]/dt=k[Np(VI)][(CH3)2NHOH+]/[H
+]0.65, where k = 242 +/- 11 liter0.35/mole0.35.min at 25-degrees-C an
d mu = 2. The activation energy and entropy are E = 60.03 +/- 0.02 kJ/
mole and DELTAS = -(40.4 +/- 0.4) J/mole.K. The reaction mechanism is
discussed.
