Abstract
The rate of Np(VI) reduction to Np(V) by N,N-diethylhydroxylamine in H NO3 solution obeys the equation -d[Np(VI)]/dt = k[Np(VI)][(C2H5)2NHOH]/[H+]0.84, where k = 22.6 +/- 0.8 liter0.16/mole0.16.min at 25-degree s-C and mu = 2. The activation energy of the reaction is E = 68.5 +/- 0.9 kJ/mole. The activation entropy is DELTAS = -(32 +/- 3) J/mole -K . The reaction mechanism is discussed.
