Abstract
The binary phase diagram of two plastic crystals, tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane (TRIS) and 2-amino 2-methyl 1,3-propanediol (AMP) has be en determined by means of thermal analysis and X-ray powder diffractio n, between room temperature and 450 K (liquid state). In the plastic p hase complete miscibility is observed, i.e. molecular alloys can be fo rmed at any mole fraction. From this result it is concluded that the A MP cubic phase has the same space group as TRIS (lm3m).
