Abstract
Ranitidine at the dose commonly used in the treatment of peptic ulcer and related acid-peptic disorders showed no effects on circulating lev els of T, E(2), FSH, LH, PRL and TSH as well as on spermatogenesis. Th e lack of anti-androgen properties of ranitidine may therefore be rega rded as a considerable advantage of the drug versus the first generati on of Hi-H-2 antagonists which have been shown able to interfere with the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis in man.
