Fj. Gross et al., INCREASED PREVALENCE OF OCCLUDABLE ANGLES AND ANGLE-CLOSURE GLAUCOMA IN PATIENTS WITH PSEUDOEXFOLIATION, American journal of ophthalmology, 117(3), 1994, pp. 333-336
The association between angle-closure glaucoma and pseudoexfoliation i
s controversial. We retrospectively studied the angle configurations o
f 54 patients with pseudoexfoliation and found gonioscopically occluda
ble angles in five cases (9.3%). We also analyzed the data from severa
l large studies of pseudoexfoliation patients and found an increased p
revalence of acute angle-closure glaucoma in this group. These data su
ggest that pseudoexfoliation patients may represent a high-risk popula
tion for the development of angle-closure glaucoma.
