S. Chen et al., IN-SITU LOCALIZATION OF ATPASE ACTIVITY IN CELLS OF PLANTS INFECTED BY MAIZE-DWARF MOSAIC POTYVIRUS, Archives of virology, 134(3-4), 1994, pp. 433-439
Cells of healthy maize plants as well as those infected by maize dwarf
mosaic potyvirus were examined by electron microscopy for the locatio
n of ATPase activity. In healthy and virus infected plants, ATPase act
ivity was found in plasma membranes, chloroplast thylakoid membranes,
nuclear membranes and in mitochondria. In virus-infected cells, ATPase
activity was also observed in cytoplasmic vesicles which were found i
n dose proximity to the virus-specific cytoplasmic inclusion bodies (C
I), at the ends of the arms of the CI and in plasmodesmata.
