Tt. Dabrah et al., CP-225,917 AND CP-263,114 - NOVEL RAS FARNESYLATION INHIBITORS FROM AN UNIDENTIFIED FUNGUS .2. STRUCTURE ELUCIDATION, Journal of the American Chemical Society, 119(7), 1997, pp. 1594-1598
The structure elucidations of new fungal products CP-225,917 and CP-26
3,114 are described. The structures, including relative stereochemistr
y, were established using a variety of analytical data and extensive N
MR analysis. The compounds possess a bicyclo[4.3.1]deca- 1,6-dien-10-o
ne system in conjunction with a maleic anhydride moiety, a gamma-lacto
l, and two alkenyl side chains. They are related to nonadrides, and th
eir biosynthetic origins are proposed. The producing organism also yie
lds zaragozic acid A, and both zaragozic acids and compounds CP-225,91
7 and CP-263,114 appear to be derived from the condensation of oxaloac
etic acid and the corresponding monocarboxylic acid.
