Abstract
This article provides a brief overview of cognitive-behavioral theory and its application in understanding and treating anxiety in youths. R esearch investigations have examined the outcomes of cognitive-behavio ral intervention, treatment generalizability, diagnostic issues, cogni tive processing, social competence, and familial and parental factors. Issues surrounding the transportability of empirically evaluated trea tment to community-based clinics are considered.
