The capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) was applied to analyze atmosp
heric aerosol samples collected by a cascade impactor and filters. A W
aters Quanta 4000 system equipped with data acquisition and evaluation
software as well as with an indirect UV detector of fixed wavelength
was used. Calibration curves were prepared by means of standard stock
solutions to qualify and quantify different inorganic and organic ions
. The detection limit and sensitivity in the case of each ion were car
efully determined. On the basis of data obtained the size distribution
of the ions in aerosols and the composition of particles in the fine
particles size range were studied. Correlations were calculated betwee
n concentrations and light scattering coefficient.
