Es. Koba et al., EFFECT OF PLASTIC-DEFORMATION AND HIGH-PRESSURE WORKING ON THE STRUCTURE AND MICROHARDNESS OF METALLIC GLASSES, Acta metallurgica et materialia, 42(4), 1994, pp. 1383-1388
The effects of rolling, bending and high pressure working on the struc
ture and microhardness of Fe, Fe-Ni and Co based metallic glasses have
been investigated. Some special methods of specimen deformation and m
icrohardness measurement were used. The structure has been investigate
d by X-ray analysis and positron annihilation methods. A large importa
nce of structural relaxation process occurring at room temperature dur
ing some hours after deformation has been established. The correlation
between structural changes and those of mechanical properties after d
eformation has been found. The strain hardening and strain softening o
f metallic glasses has been found to depend upon the pattern of stress
ed state under the deformation.
