Vp. Vasilev et al., THE SPECTRAL DEPENDENCE OF OPTICAL POLARI ZATION FOR 5 RS CVN RADIOEMITTING SHORT-PERIOD BINARIES, ASTRONOM ZH, 70(6), 1993, pp. 1322-1326
The results of UBVRI polarimetry carried out on the 1,25-m CRAO telesc
ope with the Helsinki University photometer-polarimeter for RS CVn, AR
Lac, Z Her, SZ Psc and DH Leo binaries are presented. In distinction
to known AR Lac system integral spectrum polarization observations, no
significant variations of polarization degree were detected. The degr
ee of polarization were detected. The degree of polarization for all f
ive system, as a rule, did not exceed 0,2%. At the same time, in case
of RS CVn more than one-order-of-magnitude variations were observed. B
oth decrease and growth of polarization degree with wavelength were ob
served at different phases of variability. The present data yet do rio
t allow to make a simple conclusion about these systems polarization m
echanisms. It is necessary to carry on further multiwave length polari
metric observations which will allow to separate spectral contribution
s of various additive mechanisms.
