Abstract
A fluorescence inhibition test (FIT) is described for serotyping rapid ly isolates of epizootic haemorrhagic disease of deer virus (EHDV). Th e test used a serogroup-reactive monoclonal antibody in a immunofluore scence procedure to detect virus which resisted neutralisation by anti sera to any of the eight known EHDV serotypes. The EHDV FIT provided a n accurate serotype identification procedure for all eight reference s erotypes and, in comparison with the plaque inhibition assay, abbrevia ted the serotyping process by three to four days.
