A zero coercive field H(c) has been obtained by passing an ac current
with appropriate phase, frequency and amplitude through an amorphous C
o70.3Fe4.7Si15B10 ribbon. The phenomenon is explained in terms of the
model for magnetization of amorphous ribbons carrying dc current. The
condition for the occurence of H(c) = 0 has been derived and the evide
nce provided that the strength of pinning centres responsible for H(c)
increases at elevated currents. Some applications of the phenomenon a
re briefly discussed.
