Abstract
A numerical algorithm for two-dimensional micromagnetic calculations f or ferromagnetic materials is presented. All important energy contribu tions are taken into account. Within the finite difference approximati on the stray field energy can be treated rigorously. The stability of the equilibrium states can be checked by inspection of the Hessian. Th e algorithm converges even if bad starting configurations are used.
