Ds. Horowitz et Ar. Krainer, MECHANISMS FOR SELECTING 5' SPLICE SITES IN MAMMALIAN PRE-MESSENGER-RNA SPLICING, Trends in genetics, 10(3), 1994, pp. 100-106
Identification of 5' splice sites requires that limited and dispersed
sequence information be interpreted precisely. Both snRNAs and protein
s are required for this process. The selection of 5' splice sites in a
lternative splicing is closely related to that in constitutive splicin
g, and uses the same components in somewhat different ways.
