Abstract
The thin layer chromatographic behaviour of common crown ethers has be en Studied, pointing out unexpected features. Under certain experiment al conditions the chromatographic spot is splitted up, as a consequenc e of the thermodymanic equilibrium established between conformers. Thi n layer chromatography proves to be proper for searching the way a mac rocyclic synthesis is carried out, but improper for determining the po lyether purity.
