Beta-Aroyl-alpha-(indol-3-yl)propionic acids II were prepared by the r
eaction of beta-aroyl-acrylic acid I with indole in dry benzene. React
ion of II with hydrazine hydrate afforded dihydropyridazinones III. Th
e reaction of III with ethyl bromoacetate and dimethyl sulphate in dif
ferent solvents was studied. Compounds III reacted with POCl3/PCl5 to
give chloropyridazine VI. The behaviour of VI towards some nucleophile
s was investigated. Reaction of III with bromine/acetic acid mixture a
nd Grignard reagents was described. Dehydration of II yielded the bute
nolids XII which underwent ring opening reaction with amine to give XI
II. Also compounds II reacted with hydroxylamine lo give dihydro-1,2-o
xazin-6(211)-one XIV. The antimicrobial activity of some synthesized p
roducts was investigated.
