A field experiment was conducted during the rainy (kharif) seasons of
1988 and 1989 to work out the relative efficacy of different methods o
f butachlor application for weed control in transplanted rice (Oryza s
ativa L.) under standing water condition. Broadcasting of butachlor gr
anules showed the highest weed-control efficiency as well as grain (31
.79 q/ha) and straw (56 q/ha) yields of rice. Butachlor EC as sand-mix
also controlled the weeds effectively and was on a par with granules
for grain and straw yields.
