Sn. Kolgatin et al., NUMERICAL-SIMULATION OF EXPLOSION OF THE SKIN LAYER OF A CONDUCTOR INA SUPERSTRONG MAGNETIC-FIELD, High temperature, 31(6), 1993, pp. 820-825
An explosion of the skin layer formed at the surface of a single-turn
solenoid is considered in conditions arising when an attempt is made t
o attain the values of induction from the megagauss range. The role of
this phenomenon as a factor hindering the generation of superstrong m
agnetic fields in quasi-steady-state experiments is estimated. Analyti
c estimates are confirmed by the results of the calculations.
