Abstract
The possibilities of restoring a heat flow are discussed, as a functio n of time, from the final state of a thermodestructible material. When a plate made of a thermodestructible material is heated, the processe s of heat transfer and pyrolysis, under the action of a heat flow, lea d to a certain density profile of the material throughout its depth. I n the final state, the density profile retains information on the heat ing history. The problem of restoring the heating history of a sample from the density profile in the final state is posed here in its extre mal formulation. The results of numerical experiments corroborate the feasibility of unambiguous restoration of the heating history in a rat her narrow class of functions.
