A 23-month-old Caucasian girl had congenital circumscribed areas of de
eply pigmented terminal hairs that gradually lost their pigment over t
he next two years. Physical examination revealed no other abnormalitie
s. Histologic examination demonstrated terminal hair in otherwise norm
al skin consistent with nevoid hypertrichosis. The clinical and histol
ogic characteristics of nevoid hypertrichosis are compared with other
types of hypertrichotic patches.
