Abstract
Synercticus Newman is diagnosed and placed in Synercticinae, subfam. n . within the Boridae. Comparisons are made with the other genera of Bo ridae (Boros Herbst, Lecontia Champion) and members of the related fam ily Pythidae. Osphyoplesius Winkler is removed from the Boridae and te ntatively placed in the Pythidae. The known geographic distribution of Synercticus heteromerus Newman (= Aposyla picea Pascoe, syn. n.) is g iven.
