Abstract
When performing a protocol as in the study of Pilz et al. ''...immunog lobulin therapy in sepsis and septic shock...'' it is necessary to dif ferentiate between those patients with generalized inflammation and th ose with bacterial sepsis. The Sepsis Severity Score and the Apache II score are mentioned as being insufficient to identify patients with b acterial sepsis. A proposal is formulated to use clinical data to coll ect patients with bacterial sepsis, to use the Apache II score for sev erity of disease, and to use a multiple organ failure score for follow -up.
