Abstract
We report here that the assignment of nt 37504 in the human inter-gamm a-globin gene region of the HUMHBB locus sequence as a C is incorrect and should be replaced by a T. Accordingly, the polymorphic TaqI site, originally described at position 37503 as an African-specific marker, is actually located at position 37992. A PCR-based assay for this ant hropologically important genetic marker is described.
