Y. Mimaki et al., LANOSTEROL OLIGOSACCHARIDES FROM THE PLANTS OF THE SUBFAMILY SCILLOIDEAE AND THEIR ANTITUMOR-PROMOTER ACTIVITY, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 42(2), 1994, pp. 327-332
Phytochemical studies of the bulbs of Scilla peruviana, Eucomis bicolo
r, Chionodoxa gigantea and C. luciliae gave respectively two new and t
wo known, four new and two known, three known, and one new and five kn
own lanosterol oligosaccharides. The structures of the new compounds w
ere determined from spectroscopic data. A total of 19 lanosterols, inc
luding previously isolated compounds, were examined for inhibitory act
ivity on 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate (TPA)-stimulated P-32 in
corporation into phospholipids of HeLa cells as the primary screening
test to find new antirumor-promoter compounds.
