Abstract
2(1H)-Quinoxalinon-1-yl-acetyl hydrazine and its thiosemicarbazides ha ve been synthesised. The latter on chemoselective heterocyclization wi th conc. H2SO4 and NaOH separately afforded 2-arylamino-5[2(1H)-quinox alinon-1'-ylmethyl]1, 3, 4-thiadiazoles (111) and 1- N -aryl-2-mercapt o-5 [2 (1H) -quinoxalinon-1'-yl-methyl]-1, 3, 4-triazoles (IV) respect ively. These compounds along with their derivatives have been screened for their antimicrobial activity.
