Abstract
Lipase from Candida cylindracea has been used to synthesize the substi tuted 3-cyano-2-pyridones by cyclization of 1, 3-diketones with cyanoa cetamide in water at 40-degrees-C. Synthesis has been performed in an excess of cyanoacetamide and the products have been analyzed by IR and H-1 NMR spectroscopy.
