Abstract
A new anthrone derivative, didyronic acid, has been obtained from the pods of Cassia didymobotrya and characterised as 1,5,6,7-tetrahydroxya nthrone-3-carboxylic acid which is a hitherto unreported compound. Chr ysophanol, physcion, fallacinol, isorhamnetin, beta-sitosterol and bet a-sitosteryl-beta-D-glucoside have also been isolated from the plant.
