X. Demuylder et al., HETEROTOPIC OVARIAN PREGNANCY AFTER CLOMIPHENE OVULATION INDUCTION, European journal of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive biology, 53(1), 1994, pp. 65-66
Heterotopic pregnancy is a life threatening condition which seems to o
ccur more frequently than previously estimated. We report a case of co
mbined ovarian and intrauterine pregnancy after clomiphene treatment.
Diagnosis was delayed because clinical presentation was atypical and u
ltrasound was falsely reassuring. The neonate was healthy but presente
d with a single umbilical artery. When an ectopic gestation is suspect
ed after induction of ovulation or assisted reproductive technologies
the presence of an intrauterine pregnancy can no longer be considered
reassuring and an heterotopic pregnancy has to be ruled out.
