Abstract
Protoplasts were prepared from the mycelia of two basidiomycetes speci es; Pleurotus sajor-caju (Fr.) Singer and Pleurotus eryngii (jacq. ex Fr.) Quel.. Among these protoplasts, laccase-less mutants were found i n the regenerated dikaryotic mycelia. The parent strains having laccas e activities with syringaldazine showed decolorization activities with carminic acid and Remazol brilliant blue R as substrates. However, la ccase-less mutants showed no activities with these substrates although growth of the mutants mycelia was rather slow.
