Calymperes subserratum Fleisch., described from Java, is reported new
to eastern Malesia from New Britain, Papua New Guinea. This rare moss
is also known from two collections from Mindanao, The Philippines. The
distinctiveness of this species is reaffirmed and it is differentiate
d from C. serratum A. Braun ex C Mull. and C. subulatum Bartr. The lat
ter species is reported new to the Caroline Islands (Ponape) and to Ne
w Caledonia.
