Abstract
The reaction of p-chloronitrobenzene with N-methylpyrrolidine under hi gh pressure gave demethylation product and ring opening products throu gh quaternary ammonium chloride intermediate formed by the SNAr reacti on. On the other hand, the reactions with N-methylpiperidine and N-met hylmorpholine gave only demethylation products. The reactions of o-chl oronitrobenzene and 2,4-dichloronitrobenzene with above amines gave si milar results.
