Pm. Sharp, IDENTIFICATION OF GENES ENCODING RIBOSOMAL-PROTEIN L33 FROM BACILLUS-LICHENIFORMIS, THERMUS-THERMOPHILUS AND THERMOTOGA-MARITIMA, Gene, 139(1), 1994, pp. 135-136
Three previously unrecognized genes from Bacillus licheniformis, Therm
us thermophilus and Thermotoga maritima, encoding ribosomal protein L3
3, have been identified and designated as rpmG genes. Their sequence a
nd context have been compared with the three known rpmG genes from Esc
herichia coli, Lactococcus lactis and B. subtilis. Previously unrecogn
ized open reading frames homologous to secE are located immediately do
wnstream from rpmG in B. licheniformis, T. thermophilus and Ta. mariti
ma; beyond that lie previously identified musG and rplK genes. Thus, t
he genes located downstream from rpmG show similar organization across
three of the four bacterial phyla represented.
