Abstract
In this exploratory research we propose a theoretical model and estima te a system of equations in which an impaired mother's reciprocation o f assistance provided by a caregiving daughter simultaneously influenc es the satisfaction of the elder and the stress and burden of the care giver. The results indicate that, consistent with some previous resear ch, reciprocity does not directly or indirectly affect the satisfactio n of older women. Conversely, reciprocity does significantly reduce th e stress and burden experienced by caregiving daughters.
