Abstract
Water redistribution within homogeneous soil columns was evaluated by the instantaneous profile method. This experiment was conducted to qua ntify the errors associated with measurements of the hydraulic conduct ivity as a function of soil water when the assumption of unit gradient of the hydraulic potential is adopted. Within the range of soil water contents of the experiment, the errors increased with a decrease in w ater contents. Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was underestimated b y as much as 73%.
