Cl. Prevedello et al., UNIT GRADIENT OF THE HYDRAULIC POTENTIAL AS A SOURCE OF ERROR IN OBTAINING THE HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY OF AN UNSATURATED SOIL, Pesquisa agropecuaria brasileira, 29(2), 1994, pp. 275-280
Water redistribution within homogeneous soil columns was evaluated by
the instantaneous profile method. This experiment was conducted to qua
ntify the errors associated with measurements of the hydraulic conduct
ivity as a function of soil water when the assumption of unit gradient
of the hydraulic potential is adopted. Within the range of soil water
contents of the experiment, the errors increased with a decrease in w
ater contents. Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was underestimated b
y as much as 73%.
