Basic seed o f the pea (Pisum sativum L.) cultivars Kodama and Juma we
re produced in the experimental fields of the Brazilian National Veget
able Research Centre - CNPH/EMBRAPA - in 1990. After mechanical harves
t, the seeds were taken to the Seed Processing Unit, where classificat
ion by size, and colour (cv. Kodania, and by specific weight (cv. Juma
) took place. Results indicated that classification by size did not af
fect seed quality; seed specific weight had a strong influence on the
seed physical and physiological qualities and differences in seed colo
ur were statistically associated with differences in seed physiologica
l qualities.
