Mj. Stuart et Tk. Karaharju, ACUTE COMPARTMENT SYNDROME - RECOGNIZING THE PROGRESSIVE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS, Physician and sportsmedicine, 22(3), 1994, pp. 91
A high school football player suffered an acute lateral lower leg comp
artment syndrome following an apparent peroneal muscle strain. Early d
iagnosis was made on the basis of worsening symptoms and signs and by
intracompartment pressure readings. Prompt fasciatomy and removal of n
ecrosed tissue, followed by casting and then air splinting, allowed a
full recovery and return to play.
