Abstract
The importance of particle size in inhalation of nebulized aerosol was investigated in healthy volunteers using gamma scintigraphy, Lung dep osition was related to the percentage of particles below 5 mum for fiv e different aerosols. Greater penetration of the distal airways was ac hieved with aerosols of smaller sizes. The first order lung clearance kinetics of Tc-99m-diethylenetriamine pentaacetate were similar for th e different droplet sizes.
