D. Colombani, SYNTHESIS OF METHACRYLIC-TYPE PEROXIDIC COMPOUNDS AND STUDY OF THEIR HOMOLYTIC INDUCED DECOMPOSITION IN SOLUTION, Tetrahedron, 53(7), 1997, pp. 2513-2526
Various unsaturated peroxidic compounds have been prepared, characteri
zed and inductively decomposed in various solvents to afford the corre
sponding oxiranes. The reaction proceeded by a radical chain mechanism
and was initiated either by thermolysis of added t-butyl peracetate a
t 110 degrees C or AIBN at 80 degrees C, or by autoxidation of BEt(3)
at 20 degrees C. The studied peroxyderivatives were designed to genera
te oxyl radicals reacting either by isomerization (e.g. intramolecular
1,5-hydrogen atom transfer, cyclization or beta-scission of a cyclic
structure), fragmentation or hydrogen atom transfer to solvents to yie
ld functional alkyl radicals. (C) 1997, Elsevier Science Ltd.
