Abstract
Relationships between the spatial energy distribution in the cross-sec tion of a laser beam and pressure alteration in time in a sound pulse generated in air in the process of laser irradiation of a solid surfac e are obtained. A technique for reconstruction of energy spatial distr ibution in laser beams from acoustic measurements is proposed. Experim ental data confirming theoretical conclusions are given.
