G. Bernaola et al., OCCUPATIONAL ASTHMA AND RHINOCONJUNCTIVITIS FROM INHALATION OF DRIED COWS MILK CAUSED BY SENSITIZATION TO ALPHA-LACTALBUMIN, Allergy, 49(3), 1994, pp. 189-191
A chocolate candy worker was diagnosed as having occupational asthma a
nd rhinoconjunctivitis on the basis of clinical record and methacholin
e challenge. Positive conjunctival and bronchial challenge tests with
lactalbumin showed that this protein was the pathogenetic agent. Type
I hypersensitivity mechanism is demonstrated by means of skin prick te
st and RAST.
