During a 15-year period, 17 patients with psoriatic arthritis had 27 f
oot and ankle operations. The most common operation was forefoot arthr
oplasty. The stage of psoriatic skin involvement and the pattern of ra
diographic changes in the foot and ankle joints mere evaluated, and th
e factors thought to influence perioperative outcome were reviewed. Th
e complications were Koehner's phenomenon (or isomorphic response), in
fection, and nonunion, which were uncommon. The features predicting ou
tcome of diagnosis and treatment were not identified.
