Abstract
Samples of seven western softwood species and white oak were condition ed sequentially at 22, 18, 12, and 8 percent equilibrium moisture cont ent. The moisture meter readings from a capacitance-type moisture mete r were compared to the moisture content determined gravimetrically, an d correction factors were derived for Douglas-fir, western larch, west ern redcedar, western hemlock, white fir. lodgepole pine, Engelmann sp ruce, and white oak. A method is given by which species correction fac tors for other species can be estimated from specific gravity.
