Natural radioactivity in building materials has been measured to deter
mine the external dose equivalent rate due to walls, floor and ceiling
. Indoor radon has been measured to estimate the internal dose rate. O
ccupancy factor was estimated to be 0.3. It is found that the external
dose equivalent rate to lungs is less than or equal to the internal d
ose equivalent rate. Both the external and internal dose equivalent ra
tes in the houses under consideration are less than the background dos
e equivalent rate value given by UNSCEAR.
