Th. Tsaur et al., A NONDIRECTIVE INFRARED TRANSCEIVER FOR INDOOR HIGH-SPEED WIRELESS DATA COMMUNICATION, IEEE transactions on consumer electronics, 40(1), 1994, pp. 20-27
A prototype of the IM bps non-directive infrared wireless transmission
system was designed, and tested. System design considerations about c
hannel property, optoelectronics devices characteristics, modulation s
chemes are discussed, and issues about the circuit design and the impl
ementation are described. In this system, the pulse position modulatio
n (PPM) with short pulse duration and the analog-multiplier type demod
ulator were used. The feasibility of nondirective transmission is full
y demonstrated and can support successful data communication in a typi
cal room. The system architecture can be upgraded to data rates such a
s 2M bps or higher by only changing circuit parameters.
