Fifteen species of undissepimented solitary horn corals (Coelenterata,
Rugosa) from the Lower Devonian Abadia Formation of the Cantabrian Mo
untains in Northern Spain are described belonging to the genera Entero
lasma, Schindewolfia, Boolelasma, Syringaxon, Nicholsoniella, Adradosi
a, Ufimia, Oligophyllum (Pentelasma) and Pentaphyllum. Three species a
re new: Syringaxon smithioides nov, sp., Ufimia tabulata nov, sp., and
another unnamed new species of Ufimia;Adradosia barroisi simplex PLUS
QUELLEC, 1981 has been renamed as A. b. plusquelleci nov. nom. because
of homonymy. The new Cantabrian coral fauna represents the most diver
se Cyathaxonia fauna sensu Hill of Lower Devonian age; dissepimented c
orals are almost completely missing. Several elements are related to s
pecies in Germany (Hart Mts. and Thuringia), Bohemia, Turkey and the U
rals. Some coral-bearing horizons contain ammonoids, mostly Erbenocera
s filalense and several species of Mimagoniatites indicating a late Lo
wer Emsian age.
